About
A born and raised Texan, Chris Jacobie is a producer best known in the Indie Folk and Singer-Songwriter genres for his work with artists like Penny & Sparrow, Ryvoli, Matthew Pinder, Duncan Fellows, and many more.
First becoming interested in producing while in high school, Jacobie learned to play all the instruments, sing, record, and produce his first album from his home studio. This passion for producing continued to grow and Jacobie eventually ended up graduating with a Bachelor’s in Music from the University of Texas at Austin.
Starting his own production company in 2013, Jacobie has seen success with projects he has produced including a debut at #7 on the Billboard Folk Albums chart for Penny & Sparrow’s album Tenboom. Several other singles and albums produced by Jacobie have been featured on Spotify's official playlists garnering millions of streams.
Influenced by producers like George Martin, Nigel Godrich, and Ethan Johns, Jacobie focuses his craft on artists who approach recording with a combined strong vision for their work and adaptable spirit. “I don't like working with artists that just want me to slap their voice on my production. I want them to come in with a direction of where they want to go and let me guide them to that place,” says Jacobie.
Artists that have worked with Jacobie testify to his strengths and his “unique ability to hear a song and immediately know what kind of instrumentation and what kind of feel and sound would really make it rise to the next level…. All the while keeping the artist’s integrity and interest at heart” (Decca Recording Artist, Jarrod Dickenson.)
Jacobie’s distinct ability to understand an artist’s sound and capture their emotions within a soundscape has provided a platform to shape the musicians he works with into fully realizing their artistic potential.
Currently between studios, Jacobie is enjoying the process of destination recording - creating an experience that allows the artist to just focus on creating and not get bogged down by their responsibilities at home and in their "real life."
He also recently launched a new weekly podcast, Music Production Talks with Chris Jacobie and JP Ruggieri, which will take listeners behind the scenes of music production as they discuss the art of crafting interesting and compelling recordings.
